I think 30 is reasonable
Depends on what kind of student, length and frequency of lesson, skill of teacher, demand for teacher’s time, geographic location of lessons, whether lessons are in a studio or a school or at the teacher’s home or the student’s home. Craigslist would be a good source for competitive information, to see what other teachers are charging. Many teachers will offer rates at the lower end of the local pay scale until they have enough students, then start raising rates by 10%-20% per year.
I think it depends on what you’re teaching, and whom. I wouldn’t pay more than 20 per lesson for my 5 year old, but a college student, say majoring in music, that needs more of a tutor, would probably pay more… I know that my daughter’s gymnastics classes are 120/week, and she goes 3 days a week, for two hours. Hope that helps.
In the San Francisco Bay Area (relatively high income area), prices for lessons range from $20 to $100 per hour for young students. Typically, the youngest students will have a half hour class. A group class usually has half the price per student. An in-home class for an hour would be at the upper range of the scale ($100 per hour, 24 hour cancellation notice).
Depending on where in the world you are. Reasonable prices might change. For example if you live in an area without much money at all, then it’d be pointless to charge much, so maybe $40 for a hour lesson. While if you live in a bigger area with lots of money coming in, charge anywhere between $120-$180. Where i’m to the average price for a non-professional is like $80.
50 dollars an hour is a reasonable rate.
